Somewhat long-winded essay by William Deresiewicz, Columbia undergrad & PhD and now Yale professor of English literature. Interesting points, to which I could nod in agreeement as I think about my own experiences:
Exclusionary mentality held by alumni, "entitled mediocrity", people who follow directions very well, education that does not always foster risktaking or thinking outside of the box.
